Long long ago in the before times, there was a man, Warm in nature, and nature was warm to him, some may say one could not exist without the other. It truly was a happy and symbiotic experience. And on a special day, 04/20, this man of a warm persuasion would give thanks to the herbs of the earth, the preferred method of celebration was inhalation, at other times it has been gumy, and on occasion, somewhat ironically, baked.
There was another man, but a boy really. Lost and far from home, many of the fine traditions of his people forgotten, save one. The 25th of April. A day of great significance, set aside to remember when troops landed in Suvla bay, and to honour all those that fought under the banner ANZAC from the shores of Golipoli, held up by the Rats of Tobruk, along the Kakoda trail to all currently serving at home and abroad.
As neither would deny the significance of the other’s respective day, an alliance was formed and together with the help of the Chosen People a tradition was was born.
And on this Thursday we celebrate the 5th installment of the Half Baked Yeast Infection Down Unda (2nd if you go by Ole Mate Warmy’s counting). This year has the possibility of everything a soul could desire; Johnny Bread, Green and Gold jello shots, 4 separate trails (all starting at LaBorde Mountain), and a hare on crutches! Oh yeah, possibly a patch.
Religion for the evening will be a short ANZAC service, if you choose to attend we ask that you show the respect that the ceremony deserves, if this not for you feel free to warm up the on after.
